San Pedro's Favorite Catamaran Tour Company, Now Sailing From Hopkins

San Pedro’s top-rated catamaran company is now sailing from Hopkins. The same premium catamarans, licensed crew, and unforgettable days on crystal-clear waters now depart from Hopkins, a laid-back Garifuna beach village in the Stann Creek District. After 12+ years on Belize’s water, we’re bringing our flagship experience to a quieter shore.

The Belize Barrier Reef (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) sits roughly 14 miles offshore, about 30 to 45 minutes by boat, and the cayes off Hopkins lie inside the South Water Caye Marine Reserve. It’s the same world-class reef as the northern cayes, only with a calmer, less-crowded launch point. Set sail on our signature catamaran sail and be on the reef before mid-morning.

FAQ
Good to Know Before You Sail From Hopkins
How far is the Belize Barrier Reef from Hopkins?

The reef sits roughly 14 miles offshore from Hopkins, about 30 to 45 minutes aboard a premium catamaran. Your day starts in a quiet Garifuna beach village and you’re snorkeling crystal-clear waters inside the South Water Caye Marine Reserve before mid-morning. Learn more about our catamaran sailing tours.

What's the best time of year to sail?

Time your trip for the January to March dry season for the calmest seas and the best underwater visibility. Sailing is wonderful year-round, but those glass-calm mornings are hard to beat for snorkeling and sun on deck.

What's included aboard a Hopkins catamaran tour?

Your sail comes with a licensed crew, all snorkel gear, fresh local food, rum punch and local beer, and the marine-reserve conservation fee, a small fee that helps fund the protected waters you’ll be sailing. All you really need is a swimsuit and a smile. You can also add snorkeling and other water activities to your day.

Do I need to know how to swim or snorkel?

Not at all. Our tours are beginner-friendly. We provide all the gear, including flotation if you’d like it, and our licensed crew gives you guidance in the water at every stop. Confident swimmers and first-timers both have an unforgettable day.

What should I bring?

Pack light: a swimsuit, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and a camera for the crystal-clear waters. We handle the rest, including gear, food, drinks, and a licensed crew who know these reefs by heart.

What's the difference between the full-day and half-day catamaran sail?

The full-day catamaran sail is the complete experience, with multiple snorkel stops across the marine reserve plus a beach break on a caye like Tobacco Caye or South Water Caye. The half-day sail is a shorter morning trip with a couple of snorkel stops, bringing you back by early afternoon, perfect for when you want the reef and the rest of your day too.

Which spots will we visit?

You’ll sail inside the South Water Caye Marine Reserve, the largest marine protected area in Belize, with stops that may include Tobacco Caye, a tiny island where the coral starts at your toes, and the barrier reef wall itself. Exact stops depend on the tour and conditions on the day, and your crew always picks the best reef of the moment.

Can I book a private charter or sunset sail?

Yes. We offer private catamaran charters with your own dedicated crew, as well as golden-hour sunset sails. Reach out before your trip and we’ll walk you through your options and tailor the day to you. Contact us to plan a private sail.

Where do tours depart from in Hopkins?

Hopkins tours depart from the Hopkins coast. We’ll send full directions and a meeting point when you book, so you know exactly where to find us on the morning of your sail. Have a question first? Contact us and we’ll help.
